Surgical Operations

Dr Aggie Them performs private surgical operations at Grace Hospital in Tauranga.

The total fee for a surgical operation consists of three parts:

1. Surgeon fee
   Based on the amount of time spent in surgical theatre.
   The fee can vary for a given operation based on the complexity found at the time of surgery.
   We provide estimates for operations after clinical visits.
   Note: In the unlikely event of a complication requiring the involvement of a surgeon from another speciality, additional surgeon’s fees would be incurred.

2. Anaesthetist fee
   Based on the amount of time spent in surgical theatre under general anaesthetic.
   You may request an estimate for this fee by contacting the Tauranga Anaesthetic Clinic on 07 543 4569

3. Grace Hospital fee
   Based on the amount of time spent in surgical theatre, post-operative recovery, and on the ward (if indicated)
   You may request an estimate for this fee via their online estimation form, or by calling 07 577 5270

We provide a formal quote for the Surgeon fee after a consultation, and you obtain formal quotes for the Anaesthetist and Grace Hospital fees.

If you have health insurance, you will submit all three quotes to your insurance provider for pre-approval prior to the operation. After the operation, you will receive invoices for each fee that you will submit to your insurance provider for payments to be processed.

If you are self-funding the operation or have partial insurance cover, we will invoice you for the amount you owe for the Surgeon fee, which will be due one week prior to your operation date.

Appointment Policy

By scheduling a consultation, you agree to our appointment policy.

Non-Attendance Fee

A cancellation within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment or non-attendance of the appointment will result in a fee of $250.
